Birmingham’s Pack Health acquired by Quest Diagnostics

This builds on the company’s acquisition of MedXM

Quest Diagnostics, a New Jersey company that’s a leading provider of diagnostic information services worldwide, has acquired Birmingham-based Pack Health.

The financial terms of the all-cash deal were not announced.

Maziar “Mazi” Rasulnia and Will Wright founded Pack Health, a patient-engagement company that helps individuals adopt healthier behaviors, in 2013, and the Birmingham Business Alliance named it Emerging Business of the Year in 2015. The company specializes in comprehensively addressing chronic conditions that are influenced by mental health, lifestyle behaviors, access to care and social determinants of health.

“By adding the Pack Health platform to our extended care services, Quest will strengthen our ability to connect diagnostic insights to actions that generate greater value, outcomes and quality, empowering affordable care,” said Steve Rusckowski, chairman, CEO and president, Quest Diagnostics. “This transaction also builds on our growing expertise in addressing social determinants of health, such as through our Quest for Health Equity initiative, and other programs that help organizations deliver value-based care.”

In 2018, Quest acquired MedXM, now called Quest HealthConnect, a provider of in-person home=based risk assessment and monitoring services.
