Billy Reid acquires a direct-to-consumer arm of Knot Standard

Purchase will expand Reid’s locations from 12 to 20

Billy Reid and Knot Standard are merging their retail operations.

Florence-based fashion house Billy Reid is expanding with the purchase of Knot Standard’s retail business.

The purchase will increase Reid’s number of retail store locations from 12 to 20. Knot Standard will become a minority shareholder in the combined business under the Billy Reid name.

“Our shared passion of well-designed product, customer service and strong company culture is at the cornerstone of what makes this a truly exciting opportunity,” said Billy Reid, founder of Billy Reid. “I am excited to deepen our product offering, allowing us to service our customers through increased made-to-measure capacities and increasing our overall brand awareness.”

Billy Reid had discontinued its made-to-measure business during COVID-19 and was looking to revive and expand it, and the company says Knot Standard is the “ideal partner” for that. Knot Standard has been supporting made-to-measure in Billy Reid stores since 2023.

“We’re excited to build upon our already existing partnership with Knot Standard and begin working directly with their eight locations,” said Jeff Zens, CEO of Billy Reid. ”We were initially attracted to the product quality, similar customer and unique business model, all of which complement the Billy Reid business and will create a stronger consumer offering than each brand could have achieved alone.”
