The 2014 Bassmaster Classic will fish the waters of Lake Guntersville with tournament headquarters in Birmingham, the B.A.S.S. organization announced in mid-November.
Dubbed “the world championship of bass fishing, ” the Classic is returning to Birmingham for the first time since B.A.S.S. co-owner Don Logan bought the organization in 2010 and brought its headquarters back to Alabama.
“Some of the best fishing in the world can be found right here in Alabama, ” said Gov. Robert Bentley, lauding the organization’s choice of location. “We have a wealth of natural resources, making Alabama a top destination for anglers and outdoor enthusiasts. The Bassmaster Classic will help us share our natural beauty and southern hospitality with a worldwide audience.”
Rick Clunn won the first of his four bass fishing titles when the Classic was fished on Lake Guntersville in 1976.
