AmFirst has acquired a 48,000-square-foot, newly renovated office building in Birmingham, just three blocks from its corporate headquarters. The building will allow the credit union to meet expanding membership needs, said AmFirst in a release.

The building, at 110 12th St. N., previously was occupied by Pack Health. In the 1990s, it served as a city-supported entrepreneurial incubator and later it housed UAB’s Office for the Advancement of Developing Industries.

“We’re thrilled to continue our investment in Birmingham, the city that has been home to our headquarters for more than 45 years,” said Kevin Morris, president and CEO of AmFirst. “As we approach our 90th anniversary this year, this expansion is about equipping our staff with the resources they need to serve our members even better, while also providing new opportunities for community partnerships and events.”

Plans call for the campus addition to be a collaborative extension of the credit union’s corporate office. Flexible meeting spaces and comfortable break areas and wellness-focused features will create an environment where staff can thrive, the company said.

Among the building’s attributes is a soundstage that will support AmFirst’s expanding marketing and communications initiatives. The studio suite includes a cyclorama wall, voice booth and green room.
