Alabama union membership down over decade
Though it’s beginning to rise, the number of Alabamians who hold union membership is down 23.2% from where it was in 2013. Alabama’s union members make up 7.5% of Alabama employees, below the average national rate of 9.6%. That 7.5% figure is a gain from 5.9% in 2021. – Alabama Political Reporter
Birmingham Sheraton Hotel getting multi-million-dollar makeover
The Sheraton Hotel in downtown Birmingham will get a $5 million renovation, including a new lobby with bar, studios and other public spaces. Renovations are expected to be completed by the end of the year. – WVTM 13
UM has largest freshman class since 2012
With 592 freshmen, the University of Montevallo has the highest number of incoming freshmen in over a decade. Total enrollment is 3,142, up about 5.4% since last fall. – University of Montevallo
FirstBank opens new Birmingham branch
