Maplesville-based South Coast Paper is facing nearly $230,000 in fines after a worker was fatally electrocuted. The Chilton County company says while it disagrees with information released by OSHA, it will cooperate with the agency. – AL.com

 

Woodfin named to historic preservation council

President Joe Biden has named Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. Woodfin’s term on the council, which advises the president on historic preservation policy, lasts until June 2025.  – The Birmingham Times

Calhoun Community College receives $250K in grant funding

The Appalachian Regional Commission has awarded a $108,000 grant to Calhoun Community College, and it will be supplemented by $144,000 in grants from local sources for a program that merges art, technology and engineering. The STEAM training created by the program will help teach skillsets desired by North Alabama businesses, the college says. – Calhoun Community College
