Daxko, a software provider for the health, fitness and wellness industry, is establishing its global headquarters in downtown Birmingham at 1728 Third Ave. North.
The building will serve as the company’s center for innovation for its more than 850 global employees, including more than 130 Birmingham-based employees.
“Daxko was among the first technology companies to call Birmingham home, helping put the city on the map as a place where software companies could start and scale,” said Jeff VanDixhorn, CEO of Daxko. “As the industry evolved, our focus stayed close to home, building technology trusted by nonprofit organizations that anchor communities and the gyms and studios that keep them moving, now powering 19,000 locations and 25 million members in 55 countries.”
Daxko was founded in 1998 by Tom Patterson and currently has office space in Homewood. The move comes as the company experiences a growth streak, with its 2025 declaration as an AI-first business and its 2026 acquisitions of Mumbai-based FitnessForce, a membership management platform built for multi-location, franchise and international fitness operators, and Alaris, a childcare management software provider.
“Daxko’s products touch nearly every corner of health and wellness,” said Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin. “If you’ve enjoyed a CrossFit workout, visited a yoga studio or attended a class at your local YMCA, chances are you’ve used their technology. Having a global company of this caliber choose downtown Birmingham as its headquarters is a tremendous vote of confidence in our city, and it’s proof that Birmingham is where world-class businesses come to grow.”
Daxko plans to move all of its current Birmingham-based positions to the new office when it opens in April 2027. The company projects its Birmingham-based team to grow to more than 200 employees over the next three years. Birmingham-based Daxko employees will work a hybrid schedule of two to three days per week in the office. The employees will have access to the onsite fitness studio and secure parking garage that is attached to the building.
“Daxko’s move underscores the vital role connectivity and a vibrant urban core play in corporate relocation,” said David Fleming, president and CEO of REV Birmingham, an economic development nonprofit. “By locating its headquarters alongside the existing innovation ecosystem in The Switch district, Daxko is strengthening downtown’s appeal, helping drive continued growth and benefiting from a location with high visibility and walkability.”
