Alabama-based Safeway, which operates as Safeway Industrial Services and Safeway Environmental Services, has been acquired by Indiana-headquartered Arcwood Environmental. The acquisition will strengthen Arcwood’s operational presence in the Southeastern U.S., according to the company.

“We continue to expand the breadth and depth of our field and environmental services platform with the addition of Safeway,” said HP Nanda, CEO of Arcwood Environmental.  “Their expertise in specialized hazardous and non-hazardous waste transportation, combined with strong customer relationships and an experienced team, strengthens our ability to serve customers nationwide.”

Safeway operates from three primary locations in Alabama and employs approximately 60 people. It operates a fleet of more than 100 tagged assets, including tankers, roll-offs, end dumps, vacuum trucks and specialized trailers supporting transportation and field operations. It provides hazardous and non-hazardous waste hauling, industrial and chemical cleaning, tank cleaning, lab packing, remediation and emergency and spill response.

“Through this acquisition process, we’ve confirmed that our two companies have similar values: delivering for customers, advancing innovation, leading with safety and working together as a team. We are excited to see all that we can accomplish together,” said Andrew Wood, CEO of Safeway.

Arcwood Environmental has been acquiring companies over the last 18 months as part of a growth strategy, expanding both services and geographic reach.
