Birmingham-based Buffalo Rock has opened a $10 million, 25,000-square-foot distribution facility in Loxley, in Baldwin County. The company expects to add 100 workers. – Baldwin Alliance

BASF to layoff half its Mobile-area employees

Specialty chemical company BASF has announced plans to layoff 100 of 200 employees at its McIntosh site.  Production lines that will be discontinue primarily serve  the plastics and automotive industries. – WKRG

Origin Bank moves into Birmingham market

Louisiana-based Origin Bank, which entered the Alabama market via South Alabama in 2024, has moved into Birmingham. Banker Will Hawkins will lead the Birmingham operations. – Origin Bank
