DC Safety and Averitt Express are moving to the South Alabama Logistics Park in Mobile County. DC Safety is moving its New York headquarters to the site, and Averitt is expanding at the park. Total investment from the companies is $55.5 million. – Fox 10
Birmingham Starbucks closes early after union announcement
A Birmingham Starbucks that announced plans to try to unionize closed early on Tuesday, with some saying it closed “for a union-busting meeting.” Employees at the Starbucks on Birmingham’s Southside had written Starbucks’ CEO a letter notifying him of their attempt to unionize, joining other Starbucks around the country. – AL.com
Hudson named dean of Cumberland Law School
Blake Hudson, a law professor at the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law, has been named dean of Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law effective July 1. Hudson grew up in Grove Hill and has degrees from the University of Montevallo and the Duke University School of Law. – Samford University
Zeke Smith, Alabama Power’s executive vice president of external affairs, and Caroline Aderholt, owner and manager of a family-owned farming and real estate business, have been confirmed as members of Auburn University’s board of trustees. They will serve seven-year terms. – Auburn University
FAME Recording Studios has new partner
The historic FAME Recording Studios in Muscle Shoals is partnering with 8 Track Entertainment to create an international headquarters for music production. The move, 8 Track’s president says, will give musicians, songwriters and others a reason to stay in the Shoals area. – News 19
