Yamaha will expand Alabama test facility

Among a number of announcements at the Miami International Boat Show, Yamaha said it will implement a “substantial expansion” of its testing facility in Bridgeport. The plan is to add 5,900 square feet of office space and 8,000 square feet of boat storage.  – Boating Industry

 

Harbert awarded $74 million Army contract

B.L. Harbert International, based in Birmingham, has been awarded a $73.8 million contract for design and construction of an aircraft maintenance facility pilotless aircraft shop at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida. The contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is estimated to be completed on Sept. 4, 2024. – Department of Defense

Sewell: 5,500 manufacturing jobs added in 2021

Rep. Terri Sewell said that Alabama added 5,500 manufacturing jobs in 2021. Sewell credits the American Rescue Plan and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act with creating jobs. Her numbers came from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. – Selma Sun

 

ConcertCare merges with International Development Connection

Birmingham tech company ConcertCare has merged with IT company International Development Connection, based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The new company, ConcertIDC, will be headquartered in BIrmingham. – Birmingham Business Journal
