Two Hilton hotels coming to Stadium Trace

Hilton will build a Homewood Suites 10.0 and Hilton Garden Inn at Hoover’s Stadium Trace development. The two hotels will share a lobby. Homewood Suites offers extended-stay rooms, with the Hilton Garden Inn catering to guests with shorter stays. The company plans to break ground in the spring of 2022. – Hoover Sun

 

Visa cardholders now get free Shipt membership

Free membership to Shipt, the Birmingham-based shopping center, is now a nationwide benefit for Visa cardholders. Depending on the card, users can get a one-month membership, three months or up to three years free. The membership is normally $99 a year.  – Business Wire

Mobile chamber chief resigns

William B. Sisson, president and CEO of the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce, has resigned effective Oct. 15. The chamber’s executive committee will appoint a team to begin a nationwide search for Sisson’s successor, and an interim executive director will be named soon. – NBC 15

 

Boozer appointed state treasurer

Gov. Kay Ivey appointed Young Boozer to be Alabama’s state treasurer following the resignation of John McMillan, who has been appointed executive director of the Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission. Boozer is a former state treasurer. – WSFA 12

 

UA renames student center

The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees voted to rename the Ferguson Student Center. The new name of the building is the UA Student Center, and the theater inside the center will be renamed the Ferguson Theater.  – WVTM 13
