UA researcher gets grant for touch-screen health technology
An associate professor in the University of Alabama School of Social Work has been awarded $1.6 million from the National Institute on Aging to design touch-screen technology to improve communication between dementia patients and caregivers. City of Guin sues 3M, alleging chemical pollution
The Northwest Alabama city of Guin has filed suit against 3M over chemical pollution discovered in the city’s drinking water source. The suit alleges that PFAS chemicals from 3M’s plant had reached from a landfill to Purgatory Creek. — WKRG-5

Colombia coal output, which includes Drummond, down nearly 50%
Coal output in Colombia dropped by 48.8% in the second quarter. Drummond LTD Colombia, a subsidiary of Birmingham-based Drummond Co., is among the country’s major miners. – Nasdaq 

MartinFederal endows scholarship for engineers
Huntsville’s MartinFederal Consulting has endowed a scholarship for Auburn University’s Samuel Ginn College of Engineering. It’s open to residents of Tallapoosa, Madison and Jefferson counties. – Alexander City Outlook
