A $3.3 million grant to the Decatur-Morgan County Port Authority will partly fund construction of two warehouses at Watco’s Decatur Riverport terminal. Watco will also contribute money toward the warehouses, which will help the port serve agriculture and steel markets.  – Progressive Railroading

Alabama community colleges will all adopt Blackboard platform
All Alabama Community College System colleges will adopt the education platform from Blackboard Inc. Once 12 colleges are migrated from Canvas LMS and another three from Moodle, all 24 colleges in the system will be using the same learning platform. – AiThority

Kronospan settlement proposal includes fines, new facility
Federal and state regulators are proposing that Eastaboga’s Kronospan plant pay $900,000 in fines and build a $7.7 million water treatment facility to settle water pollution problems. The plant makes fiberboard.  – The Anniston Star

JeffCo schools giving students free Wi-Fi
Students in some areas of Jefferson County will be able to access the Jefferson County schools’ Wi-Fi from home for free. The Jefferson County Board of Education will provide access to students at high schools Oak Grove, Mortimer Jordan, Minor, Corner, Clay-Chalkville and Center Point. – ABC 33/40

New presidents named at three community colleges
New presidents have been named at three of Alabama’s community colleges. Alabama Community College System Chancellor Jimmy Baker appointed Joel Hagood as president of Bevill State Community College, Brock Kelley as president of Lurleen B.
