West Alabama Works gives nearly $400,000 to Tuscaloosa County schools
Tuscaloosa County School System will receive a grant for $389,440 on Thursday for career technical education. The donation is from West Alabama Works’ Partnerships for Opportunity and Workforce and Economic Revitalization (POWER) grants, awarded by the Appalachian Regional Commission. – WBRC-6

Motion Industries retools in Irondale
Motion Industries will consolidate shops in Irondale and Birmingham into a new 104,000-square-foot $11.2 million complex in Irondale. The move will create 15 new jobs. – AL.com 

85% of state’s child care facilities are open
An Alabama Department of Human Resources Child Care Services Division survey shows that 85% of child care facilities around the state have reopened after the pandemic shut them down. Those facilities are operating at 66% of their capacity, the mid-October survey showed. – WSFA-12 

Citing pandemic, Decatur brewery shutting down
Cross-Eyed Owl Brewing Company in Decatur is closing Oct. 31.  Owners cited a “lack of income due to COVID-19” in a Facebook post. – WSFA-12
