Alabama businesses face 77% unemployment tax increase

BBA: Birmingham saw $500 million in capital investment in 2020
The seven-county Birmingham region saw $518 million in capital investment, including 35 projects and 1,240 jobs, in 2020, according to the Birmingham Business Alliance. That’s up from $492 million in investment in 2019. – AL.comÂ
Spencer Companies sells business, gasoline stores
The Spencer Companies, a Huntsville-based company founded in 1923, has sold its operating assets – including 31 MinitMan convenience stores in seven counties in northern Alabama – to the Dutch Oil Company and Sprint Mart chain. Mercedes-Benz Marathon won’t happen this year
The Mercedes-Benz Marathon, which draws thousands as participants and spectators, has been canceled because of the pandemic but will return next year for its 20th anniversary, organizers say. The race will take place Feb. 11-13, 2022, in Birmingham. – Mercedes-Benz Marathon
