Smucker touts McCalla facility, announces new products

New varieties of Uncrustables are on the way

The J.M. Smucker Co. today announced new varieties of its popular Uncrustables product and also touted kicking off construction of its $1.1 billion plant in McCalla, where Uncrustables will be made.

“In addition to our focus on continued innovation, we remain committed to enhancing our production capacity to meet the incredible demand  – including completing the recent expansion of our Longmont, Colorado, facility and kicking off construction for the new facility we will be launching in McCalla, Alabama,” said Chris Achenbach, director of brand strategy for Smucker. “This continued focus on delivering for consumers has always been a key value for the brand and it will be essential to realizing our goal of Smucker’s Uncrustables delivering $1 billion in annual sales over the next five years.”

Smucker’s Uncrustables will launch Uncrustables Meat and Cheese Bites in October. There will be two varieties  – uncured ham and cheddar and turkey and Colby jack.

J.M. Smucker announced its McCalla plant in November 2021, saying it would create up to 750 jobs in the Jefferson County community of McCalla. The timeline then was construction beginning in January 2022 with production beginning in 2025.
