Silver Ships has expanded into a second location in Theodore, less than a mile from its headquarters where it manufactures aluminum workboats for the military, federal, state and municipal governments, as well as commercial applications.

The new location adds 16,500 square feet of manufacturing space and creates 18,500 square feet of additional space for outfitting at the company’s original site.

Steven Clarke, CEO of Silver Ships.

“Adding a second manufacturing location is a natural progression of our team’s work to support the growing workboat segment,” said Steven Clarke, CEO of Silver Ships. “Facility expansion to meet the demands of the market is necessary to achieve the quality and deliver timelines of our customers.”

Silver Ships applies just-in-time manufacturing principles to reduce unnecessary inventory, respond to customer demand and improve efficiency. The new facility serves as a metal warehouse and houses the engineering and design departments. It will transport the materials to its original 95,000-square-foot facility to begin the build process.

As part of this expansion, the company also plans to hire more people.
