Megan Nivens-Tannett followed a long and winding road to get to where she is today – founder and CEO of Flourish, a successful PR and marketing firm in Huntsville.
She had jobs at startups, a large New York advertising agency and with the military, until her 11-year-old daughter convinced her to start a business of her own.
“She got me thinking,” Nivens-Tannett says. “She was a huge cheerleader of mine at the time and still is.”
That’s when Nivens-Tannett became what she calls a “self-taught entrepreneur,” founding Flourish and helping other businesses get started or expand.
Her advice to those trying to make a go of it? Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, and be sure you have a good PR and marketing plan.
“If you can do it right, it can be an extremely powerful asset,” she says.
