Rhett Ross is helping to bring “The Jetsons” to life. As CEO of Mobile-based Deuce Drone, he and his team are working on perfecting using drones to deliver food and other items to your doorstep (or, in true “Jetsons” fashion, to a specially made landing pad at your house of business).
It’s the stuff cartoons and sci-fi movies are made of, and it’s happening in the skies of Mobile right now. Deuce Drone has had successful tests and should be in operation by the end of the year.
Ross first became intrigued by drones during his time as head of Continental Aerospace, which was building larger, piloted aircraft.
“I was looking at what’s the likelihood of these things displacing part of our market,” he says. “At the same time, I was looking at it going, there are a lot of opportunities for these things to be used in a lot of non-traditional markets.”
On this episode, Ross talks about Deuce Drone, how the pandemic helped its growth in some ways and what the future holds for it.
