Nominations open for Business Alabama Awards

Awards honor top companies, individuals, projects

Business Alabama is making plans for its upcoming Business Alabama Awards in early 2024, but first, we need to hear from you.

We’re looking for the best and brightest in big and small companies all over the state.

The inaugural Business Alabama Awards were given earlier this year.

Deadline for nominations is Nov. 17, and you can make your nominations here.

Here are the categories and a brief description of them. 2024 awards will be given for accomplishments in 2023.

Alabama Company of the Year: The company you consider to be Alabama’s top overall company. This could be based on financial success, innovation or other reasons. Awards will be given for large company and small company. (2023 winners: Mercedes-Benz U.S. International in Vance and Master Boat Builders in Coden.)

CEO of the Year: Alabama’s top CEO this year. It could be a CEO who led a company to great success, a CEO who is at the helm of a brand-new company or had some other big accomplishment in 2023. (2023’s winner: Stephanie Bryan of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.)

Startup of the Year: We’re looking for new companies here, either a company that launched in the past couple of years, won a funding competition recently or participated in an accelerator recently. (2023’s winner: The Insider: A Collective Eatery, Mobile)

Philanthropic Project of the Year: This category is for companies that have philanthropic projects that are hugely successful or inventive. (2023’s winner: Protecting Good, a project of Protective Life, Birmingham)

Alabama Expat of the Year: This award will recognize an Alabamian who has left the state but has made a name for themselves in the business world. (2023’s winner: Tim Cook, Apple).

Project of the Year: The top project of 2023. This could be new construction, expansion, a new product, etc. (2023’s winner: NASA’s Space Launch System, Huntsville).
