 Three companies plan $40 million steel plant in Madison

Steel Summit Holdings, Toyota Tsusho America and Southern Mobility Products are joining together to build a $40 million steel auto plant in Madison. Madison Metal Processing will bring 40 new jobs to the area. MMP will begin supplying steel blanks for new vehicles at Mazda-Toyota this year, with full production slated to begin in mid-2022. – News 19

 Medical Properties Trust makes big Florida buy

Birmingham-based Medical Properties Trust paid $171 million for a hospital, three office buildings and a medical office mall in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. It’s one of the largest commercial purchases in Broward County this year. – The Real Deal

 Two development companies buy Birmingham’s Brookwood Village

Birmingham-based Fairway Investments and Atlanta’s Pope & Land Real Estate have purchased Brookwood Village for an undisclosed amount. The groups bought the 47-year-old shopping center and the Fresh Market retail center nearby. The development team includes Goodwyn Mills Cawood and DAG Architects. – AL.com

Renovation of Mobile’s Bienville Square begins

The $1.5 million first phase of the revitalization of Mobile’s Bienville Square has begun, and Ketchum Fountain will be removed for restoration as early as next week.
