Robins & Morton and Encompass Health have broken ground on a new rehabilitation hospital in Huntsville. The hospital will replace the existing Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Alabama located on Governors Drive in Huntsville’s Medical District.
The new facility, located at the corner of Moores Mill Road and Highway 72, is 77,850 square feet and will house 76 beds. In addition, the hospital will feature an in-house pharmacy, rehabilitation gym, an outdoor training courtyard, six-chair dialysis suite, four bariatric rooms, an isolation room, day rooms, a commercial-grade kitchen, dining room and a courtyard for outdoor dining and respite.
Robins & Morton, a privately-held construction firm based in Birmingham, will use a prefabricated exterior load-bearing wall system in the build out of the hospital. Utilizing the prefabrication will speed up the process, allowing the team to achieve schedule-critical activities, such as dry-in, at an expedited pace. The hospital is expected to open to patients in the spring of 2022.
