Mobile Port extends comment period on wetland project

The Alabama State Port Authority has received federal permission to extend the comment period on its proposed wetland creation project until Feb. 3. The project would create 1,200 acres of wetlands just south of the Causeway and Bayway across Mobile Bay using dredged sediments. — Alabama State Port Authority

 

Bill would keep foreign buyers from Alabama farm land

State Sen. Tim Melson, of Florence, has filed a bill to restrict purchases of agriculture and forest land in Alabama to U.S. citizens. The Alabama Farmers Federation supports the bill. – Alabama Daily News

BCA announces leaders for 2022

The Business Council of Alabama has named Mike Kemp as its chairman for 2022. Kemp is founder, president and CEO of Birmingham-based KMS (formerly Kemp Management Services). Birmingham-area pizza institution closes

New York Pizza, a restaurant in Homewood for more than 40 years, has closed its doors. The pizza, calzone and sandwich shop closed this week. It had opened in 1982. – Bham Now
