MMI Outdoor has been awarded a multi-million-dollar contract from the Department of Defense for its Switchblade Load Carriage System.

Manufactured under the Catoma brand, the system is designed to assist military personnel with unique, operation specific, load carriage and deployment in a safe and ergonomic manner.

“We have been developing this system for the military for a number of years, and we are gratified by this first contract award,” said David Cobb, CEO of MMI Outdoor.

Founded in 1975, MMI Outdoor is a Montgomery-based manufacturer that makes tents, back packs and accessories, primarily for the U.S. Forest Service Wildland Firefighters and the U.S. military under its Catoma product brand. Key aspects of the brand include modularity, intuitive design and durability.

The Catoma Switchblade System has been expanded with the warfighter in mind — to help fill a gap in assisting infantrymen efficiently carry their designated weapons and supporting equipment.
