Rivet the English Bulldog is a Storyteller for Airbus

When it came time to tell its story to kindergarten and first grade students in Alabama schools, world-leading aircraft manufacturer Airbus turned to Rivet the dog.

Rivet, a slightly vacant-looking but sincere Old English bulldog, is the star and narrator of a new coloring book about how Airbus A320 aircraft will be constructed at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley. The sassy Rivet, we learn, lives with a Mobile family and gets some special insights on how the planes are built from a new canine acquaintance. The story is by Brenda C. Leverett, with illustrations by Bronwyn Coffeen.

Thus far, the coloring books have been distributed to 18, 500 students in the kindergarten and first grades in Mobile and Baldwin county schools. “We hope this book gives young children a chance to learn more about the project they see on TV or hear adults discussing, ” says Michelle Hurdle, director of economic and community development for Airbus Americas Inc.
