JSU breaking ground on three new projects

Jacksonville State University is hosting three different groundbreakings today in an event the school is calling a Campus Transformation Celebration.

Jacksonville State University is hosting three different groundbreakings today in an event the school is calling a Campus Transformation Celebration.

The 4 p.m. ceremony will mark groundbreaking for North Village Residence Hall, Jax State Dining Hall and The Loring and Debbie White Football Complex.

North Village Residence Hall will be JSU’s first new residence hall since Meehan Hall opened in 2010. It will add 513 beds to university housing beginning in the fall of 2024. General contractor is Choate Construction, architect is Niles Bolton & Associates and developer is Rise: A Real Estate Company.

Jax State Dining Hall, which will replace the 62-year-old Jack Hopper Dining Hall, will include a larger dining space, executive dining room and administrative offices. General contractor is Brasfield & Gorrie, architect is Williams Blackstock Architects and program manager is Kemp Management Services.

The football complex will replace the existing field house at JSU Stadium. General contractor for the two-level facility is Brasfield & Gorrie. Architect is Goodwyn Mills Cawood, and program manager is Kemp Management Services.
