The renovation of Joe Davis Stadium in Huntsville is close to completion. The 6,000-seat, 30-year-old stadium is set to be the home of MLS Next Pro Soccer team Huntsville City FC when the team kicks off its season in May 2023.

The renovation of the stadium was designed by Chapman Sisson Architects, with Lee Builders handling the construction.

“Joe Davis has been a part of the community for over 30 years. It is really an honor being able to now play a role in this project and making it a place for future generations to enjoy,” said Rob Mercer, project manager for Chapman Sisson Architects.

The stadium is designed to be a multi-use facility that will host soccer, football, lacrosse and more. The facility will include 4,600 square feet of food service space, TV broadcast infrastructure, LED field lighting and a 1,600-square-foot zero-edge video scoreboard.

“The Joe Davis project is especially rewarding and a bucket list project for me. In 1985, my college thesis project was on a new stadium for Huntsville,” said Mike Chapman, co-founder and principal of Chapman Sisson Architects. “Thirty-seven years later I have the honor of being a part of ‘The Joe’ project, which was built the same year I did my thesis and has brought my career full circle.”
