Jackson Thornton Names New CEO

John Fendley

Jackson Thornton, a certified public accounting and consulting firm headquartered in Montgomery, has named John Fendley as the firm’s president and CEO effective Jan. 1, 2021. Fendley succeeds Ned Sheffield, who has held the position since 2009. Sheffield will continue to serve clients with the firm, as well as serve in an advisory capacity.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed leading the firm these last 12 years,” said Sheffield. “There have been great days and some challenging days and it has been my privilege to lead our firm through both. John will do a great job and I’m excited about where he will take Jackson Thornton.”

Fendley has more than 30 years of experience. He has led the firm’s Prattville office since 1997. He is a graduate of Auburn University and holds professional membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants. He also is a graduate of Leadership Alabama. He is a member of several organizations including the Prattville Chamber of Commerce and the Prattville Kiwanis Club. He also has served on a number of local YMCA boards for more than 15 years and coached more than 100 youth soccer, basketball and baseball teams.

“Jackson Thornton celebrated 100 years in 2019 and I look forward to leading the firm into our second century,” Fendley said. “I’m honored that my partners have selected me for this role. The firm’s legacy in the communities we serve is strong and I intend to honor that legacy in all we do.”
