Ivey announces credential registry

Gov. Kay Ivey announced the formation of the Alabama Credential Registry, which will enable employers and education and training providers to publish all the certificates, licenses, traditional degrees, and non-degree credentials offered in Alabama. This credential information will be displayed on the Alabama Credential Registry to signal to employers that a worker or student possesses the requisite skills for a job. – Alabama Works!

 

Small business license plate available

A “Shop Local, Support Small” license plate is available for pre-order, supporting small businesses in Alabama. 250 pre-orders are needed before the license plates will go into production. The effort is led by Main Street Alabama. – WAAY 31

FAA grants $4.3 million to Alabama airports

The FAA has awarded grants totaling $4.3 million to five Alabama airports for improvement.  The grants went to Mobile Downtown Airport; Montgomery Regional Airport-Dannelly Field; Bill Pugh Field Airport, Russellville; Monroe County Aeroplex Airport, Monroeville; and Bessemer Airport.  – Alabama Political Reporter

 

HudsonAlpha receives grant involving workforce development

The HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology has been selected by the National Science Foundation to receive a nearly $300,000 grant through the NSF Improving Undergraduate STEM Education program and workforce development. The project introduces bioinformatics research to students from schools historically underrepresented in this type of undergraduate experience – HudsonAlpha
