The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals has blocked two more sections of Alabama’s controversial immigration law until there’s final court action on the law in general. The court set aside provisions that make contracts with illegal immigrants unenforceable and forbid illegal immigrants from doing business with the state.
The decision, following on the heels of other successful challenges to the law, caused Brian Lawson of the Huntsville Times to describe the law as “a shadow of the 72-page measure that passed in June.”
Attorney general Luther Strange vows that he will continue to enforce the law, saying, “I am hopeful that the Supreme Court’s coming decision in the Arizona case will make clear that our law is constitutional.”
While legal skirmishes continue, many sources says that immigrants are returning to the state.
