Hyundai Motor Group will soon announce a $7 billion electric vehicle plant near Savannah, Georgia, according to reports. The plant will employ up to 8,500 people.  – Alabama News Network

 

Conserv closes $3 million funding round

Conserv, a 2020 seed stage winner in the Alabama Launchpad competition, has completed a $3 million Series A funding round, which will allow the company to expand in the U.S. and Europe. Conserv is an environmental monitoring solution that helps museums and other art collectors preserve artifacts and works of art.  – Bham Now

NewSouth Books acquired

The University of Georgia Press has acquired Montgomery-based NewSouth Books. Publisher Suzanne La Rosa will join the Georgia press on July 1, publishing eight to 12 titles under the NewSouth imprint. – Inside Higher Ed

Coffee chain plans more Alabama locations

Scooter’s Coffee, which has four Alabama locations currently, plans to open  a number of new locations in Alabama in the near future. Already, the drive-through coffee shop is in Alexander City, Anniston, Athens and Cullman. Huntsville and Birmingham are coming soon, with Guntersville and other locations on the company’s list. – AL.com
