Homebuilder leaves Huntsville project with more than 300 homes unbuilt

The Hays Farm subdivision is looking for a new home builder after Goodall Homes pulled out of the project. Goodall built fewer than 25% of the homes they were contracted for, with more than 300 homes left to be built, Hays Farm says. Goodall, based in Nashville, told Hays Farm it had shut down its entire Huntsville operation.  AL.com

 

Athens machine shop expanding

Family-owned ROW Manufacturing Inc., based in Athens, is planning a $522,000 expansion that will result in five new jobs. The shop, which has been in business for 44 years, employs 12 people right now.  – AL.com

UAB plans new $4.5 million student orgs building

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is planning to build a $4.5 million student organization assembly building at the corner of 11th Avenue South and 14TH Street South in downtown Birmingham. In addition, UAB is considering building a new 1,200-space parking deck. The $32 million structure would be on the northern side of campus.  – Bham Now

 

Borden closing may affect Alabama students

The closing of a Borden Dairy distribution center in Dothan next month may have reverberations in Alabama schools. The Alabama State Department of Education says over 736,000 half-pint cartons of milk are given to 422,000 students across the state weekly. The Dairy Alliance is working with the Department of Education to find a new distributor. – Fox 6
