Passenger traffic at Huntsville International Airport set a record in 2023, with more than 1.47 million passengers traveling through the airport.
That’s a 22.7% increase over 2022.
Port of Huntsville CEO Butch Roberts chalked up the increase to several factors, including Huntsville becoming the largest city in Alabama and airlines responding accordingly.
“Legacy airlines American, Delta and United have added more seats and greater frequency of weekly flights to their schedules from HSV,” Roberts said. “We saw the addition of some exciting seasonal routes in 2023 including nonstop service to Miami.”
And that growth should continue, said Trey Bentley, chairman of the Port of Huntsville board.
“Our capacity will allow us to grow without having to make any major investments,” Bentley said. “We’re built for future growth without major impacts to the traveler.”
