A new, 14,000-square-foot greenhouse will help expand the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology agriculture research. The greenhouse at the Huntsville facility includes two labs and seven grow rooms. – News 19

 

Cullman to build sports, events center

The City of Cullman announced a 130,000-square-foot sports and events facility to be built near the new WildWater attraction in the city. The complex, including basketball courts, volleyball courts, soccer and baseball fields, as well as indoor facilities, is scheduled to open in 2024. – Bama Buzz

Auto veteran will direct UA center

Michael Outridge, who worked for Honda Motor Company for more than 30 years, will direct the newly formed Alabama Mobility and Power Center at the University of Alabama. The center was recently established in partnership with Alabama Power and Mercedes-Benz as a research and workforce development center for the electric vehicle market.  – AL.com

 

Mobile Chamber supports moving Mobile River Bridge project forward

The Mobile Chamber has endorsed moves by the Mobile Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Eastern Shore Metropolitan Planning Organization to amend their long-range plans to include the updated framework for the I-10 Mobile River Bridge and Bayway Project. Having the bridge project on both plans is critical to protecting federal and state funds for the project, the chamber says. The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce also endorsed the move. – Mobile Chamber
