HD Hyundai Power Transformers USA expands

The more than $14 million project will add 50 new jobs

State and local economic development professionals met with company officials for a tour through HD Hyundai Power Transformers USA’s Montgomery plant at the announcement of its expansion.

HD Hyundai Power Transformers USA Inc. is investing more than $14 million to expand its Montgomery facility and create 50 new jobs. The expansion is expected to increase production at the facility by 10%.

“We have worked hard to develop long-lasting relationships with Korean companies, so it’s great to see HD Hyundai Power Transformers USA Inc. move ahead with a plan to expand the production capabilities of its Montgomery facility,” said Ellen McNair, secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce.

The expansion includes a new warehouse and expanding yard storage to house materials and spare parts. It also includes acquiring a new modular transporter to facilitate the movement of parts and materials.

“This expansion will deepen the company’s roots in the state and extend our partnership to a new level,” said C.G. Son, president and COO of HD-HPT.

Initially, 15 employees will be hired for the new storage and warehouse, with the potential to increase to 50.
