Construction of a new public library and community center in Foley is underway, with completion projected for spring 2026.

Mobile’s White-Spunner Construction is building the nearly $18 million facility, with Birmingham-based Williams Blackstock Architects serving as architect.

The 40,000-square-foot, two-story building will feature an expanded children’s area, dedicated teen space, computer labs, study rooms and a STEAM-STEM lab. In addition, it will include areas for special-needs programs and a multipurpose room for meetings, events and public gatherings.

The new library will be nearly double the size of the existing library.

“We established a budget for this project three years ago,” Foley Mayor Ralph Hellmich said. “We had lots of bidders – and we came in under budget, which is impressive in this day and time. I appreciate the effort that all have done to make this project a success.”
