Gadsden Airport Authority votes down rendering plant
The Gadsden Airport Authority unanimously voted down a proposal for Pilgrim’s Pride to build a poultry rendering plant on industrial property at the airport in Gadsden. The authority rejected both the sale or lease of 88 acres to the company after complaints from citizens since the plant was announced in June. – WBRC 6
Michigan-based Auxo buys Auburn’s Ferrovia
Auxo Investment Partners, based in Michigan, has reached further into the rail industry with the acquisition of Ferrovia Services LLC, an Auburn-based railroad vegetation management company. British company plans to restart Selma silicon metal plant
British-based Globe Mettalurgical, a subsidiary of Ferroglobe, a leading producer of silicon metal and specialty alloys, plans to restart an idled silicon metal facility in Selma, creating 100 jobs. The facility has been shuttered since 2018. – Area Development
Austal orders floating dry dock for new San Diego facility
Mobile-based Austal USA, which finalized arrangements for a ship repair facility in San Diego last week, has now ordered a floating dry dock for the site. With a 9,000-light ton lifting capacity, the floating dry dock will be able to handle small surface combatants and similar size ships. — Sea Power
Echo Park auto delivery center opens in Huntsville
Echo Park, one of the country’s largest automotive retailers, has opened a delivery center in Huntsville, its second in Alabama.
