Averitt’s new 155,000-square-foot facility will add 30-plus jobs

Averitt, a Tennessee-based freight transporter and supply chain manager, has opened a new facility in South Alabama Logistics Park in Mobile.

The facility consists of 120,000-square-feet of warehouse and a 35,000-square-foot cross-dock. The expansion will bring in 32 new jobs and help the company retain 47 existing jobs.

“Addressing the needs of regional shippers is a key focus, as well as incorporating eco-friendly choices and strategic planning,” said Barry Blakely, Averitt’s president and chief operating officer. “Our commitment lies in fine-tuning logistics to suit the unique requirements of our valuable partners and customers in the region.”

The distribution and fulfillment center is located close to the Port of Mobile.

As part of Averitt’s sustainability initiatives, the new facility includes energy-efficient LED lighting with motion sensors, all electric forklifts and other environmentally responsible technologies.
