Fontaine awarded $38 million Army contract

The contract is for 25-ton semi-trailers and other logistics products

Fontaine Commercial Trailer Inc., in Springville, has been awarded a $38 million fixed-price contract from the U.S. Army to procure M172A2 25-ton semi-trailers, production verification testing, test service representative support, logistics products, authorized stockage list packages and advanced manufacturing technical data.

Founded in 1945, Fontaine is focused on manufacturing flatbed platform trailers and is a Marmon/Berkshire Hathaway company. Its narrow focus on platform trailers has allowed the company to research and develop innovations within its products, such as its siderails that are resistant to damage and its StirLITE Revolution flooring, which is lighter but stronger than floors in other trailers. The company has a division devoted to producing military products out of steel, aluminum or hybrid platforms.

The contract is estimated to be complete by June 14, 2026.
