Robert Witt, in March, was chosen as chancellor of the University of Alabama System and the university’s vice president, Judith Bonner, was named interim president for the Tuscaloosa school.
The same month, Freida Hill was dismissed as chancellor of the two-year college system. The state board of education voted to buy out the remainder of her contract. One of the board’s critiques was that she spent too much time on workforce development, to the detriment of academic programs—ironic, since state officials often boast of
Alabama’s first-in-the-nation status for workforce development. Vice Chancellor Susan Price has the interim post.
