Carnival to resume sailing from Mobile in October
The Carnival Sensation will begin service on Oct. 21, the first cruise ship to depart from Mobile since the industry shut down in March 2020. The Sensation replaces the Fantasy, which was taken out of the Carnival fleet. Unvaccinated passengers will be allowed on cruises, but there will be guidelines that must be followed. – Fox 10

New hotel coming to U.S. 280
A Residence Inn by Marriott will be built on a lot adjacent to BrickTop’s restaurant on U.S. 280 in Birmingham. The hotel, to be built on the former site of the Mountain Brook Inn, will be six stories with 120 units and a swimming pool. It is expected to open near the end of the year.  – Bham Now

Hibbett, United Ability host summer jobs program
Hibbett, the Birmingham-based footwear and athletic clothing retailer, has partnered with United Ability of Alabama to be the worksite for the six-week long summer job Exploration Training Services (JETS) program. The JETS program allows 10 high-school students with varying abilities to receive on-the-job training and mentoring. – Cision
