Brookwood Baptist Medical Center and Robins & Morton celebrated the opening of the medical center’s new operating room addition.
The addition stands two stories and encompasses 28,840 square feet. It includes 10 new operating rooms, with space for three more. There also is a new pedestrian bridge, as well as administrative spaces. Reports said the project was a $30 million addition.
“We’re proud to complete this project that brings more patient care space to Brookwood Baptist Medical Center,” said Ashley Dyer, Robins & Morton operations manager.
Evan Terry & Associates, based in Birmingham, served as the project’s architect.
Robins & Morton also is renovating the 3,500-square-foot post-anesthesia care unit, which should be finished later this summer.
“We’re grateful for the trust they’ve placed in us, year after year, to help them deliver world-class care,” Dyer said.
Founded in 1946, Birmingham-based Robins & Morton has completed more than 60 projects for Brookwood Baptist Medical Center. The privately held construction firm specializes in construction of health care, hospitality, higher education, entertainment, sports and government buildings.
Brookwood Baptist Medical Center is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
