Sophia Aulisio, a junior in Auburn University’s Harbert College of Business majoring in accountancy, won the $30,000 first prize in Auburn’s Tiger Cage startup competition. Her Protector Innovations offers a volleyball knee pad that improves upon traditional pads. – New Venture Accelerator

Black-owned businesses in Alabama have until April 30 to take the Birmingham Black Business Census. The census will gather data about these businesses to help increase visibility and resources for the businesses. – Bham Now

Children’s Harbor completes renovation

Children’s Harbor has completed a $4 million renovation to its chapel on its campus at Lake Martin. The renovations added 88 seats to the facility, as well as a bridal suite for wedding parties. The chapel has been renamed the Radney Family Children’s Chapel. – Bama Buzz
