Bangkok recycling company investing $51 million in Athens operation
Indorama Ventures Sustainable Solutions, based in Bangkok, will spend $51.5 million to more than double the size of its Athens plant and increase the flake-production capacity of its Alabama PET recycling plant. PET is polyethylene terephthalate, a form of polyester that’s in plastic bottles and food containers, as well as other items. – Resource Recycling 

Georgia’s Mohawk Industries expanding in Roanoke
Georgia-based Mohawk Industries will expand its operation in Roanoke, adding yarn production. Along with the carpet-backing operation already in place, the facility will employ about 300 people in the small east Alabama town. It’s the third expansion announcement in Randolph County in a year, following SteelFab Inc. in Roanoke and JELD-WEN in Wedowee.  – Made in Alabama

AIDT program wins national award
AIDT, Alabama’s state workforce development program, received the award for National Workforce Program of the Year from the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals.
