AmFirst Foundation has presented $120,000 to three Birmingham-area charities for its 2021 Community First Initiative. This year’s recipients are Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Birmingham, Three Hots and a Cot and Smile-A-Mile, which each will receive $40,000.
America’s First Federal Credit Union has supported various nonprofit organizations since 2014. In 2019, AmFirst members created the AmFirst Foundation, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this is the first time it has presented funding gifts.
Dollars were raised through multiple activities, including the annual Sporting Clays Charity Tournament and the Charity Golf Tournament, as well as multiple donations and small efforts.
“The numbers from our Community First Initiative each year continue to blow us away. At AmFirst, giving back is one of our top priorities, and more than ever, the community needs our help,” said AmFirst Foundation President Phil Boozer.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is one of the nation’s youth mentoring groups, in operation since 1904. It has 400 chapters worldwide. Smile-A-Mile helps those families in Alabama who are affected by childhood cancer. Three Hots and a Cot helps homeless veterans transition back to civilian society.
In addition to the three organizations mentioned above, AmFirst Foundation also provided more than $6,000 to Fultondale Tornado Relief.
