Alamo Drafthouse Cinema cancels Birmingham expansion plan

Texas-based Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, announced as the anchor tenant at the Powell Steam Plant development in downtown Birmingham, will no longer be coming to Alabama. Alabama Power, which owns the property and is a partner in the redevelopment, confirmed that Alamo is no longer part of the plan. –

Truist to close branches, including in Alabama

Truist Financial plans to shutter about 80 of its branches, including locations in Alabama, amid a $750 million cost-cutting initiative. Truist is based in North Carolina. – Yahoo! Finance

Southern Research opens biotech incubator

Birmingham-based Southern Research has opened its Station 41 biotech incubator for startups. The space on Birmingham’s Southside includes wet lab space, office space, a shared equipment lab and services to support biotech startups.  – Bham Now

Ainsworth unveils workforce development cabinet position plan
