Alabama Shipyard, a fixture on the Mobile waterfront for more than 100 years, was selected for a $16 million Navy contract to overhaul the USNS William Mclean.
Work is to be completed by Nov. 24, 2021.
Days before the Navy contract was awarded, the MV Cape Diamond arrived at Alabama Shipyard for coatings, steel renewals, modifications, repairs and testing.
The Cape Diamond is a roll on/roll off vehicle ship purchased by the U.S. Department of Transportation in 1985 and activated for a role in the War on Terror.
