The Alabama Farmers Federation, a statewide force in agriculture, lobbying and insurance, is marking its 100th anniversary during its two-day annual meeting, which ends today. About 1,200 farmers from every county in Alabama are expected to attend the meeting, which also marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of Alfa Insurance Co., started by the organization.  – Alabama Today

Midtown Village, a Tuscaloosa shopping center that includes a Barnes & Noble, Best Buy and other stores and restaurants, has been acquired for an undisclosed amount by Lone Star Funds and Georgia-based Wicker Park Capital Management. – AL.com
