Commuter rail from Birmingham to Montgomery?
Could happen, says the mayor of Pelham, Gary Waters, and if it does, he hopes there will be a station in the Pelham-Alabaster communities, he told the Shelby County Reporter.
It’s part of the talk being generated by a new study by HDR Engineering — funded with federal dollars and commissioned by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs. The state agency is awaiting the complete study results before the end of the year, said ADECA spokesman Jim Plott.
